Omnisend has significantly expanded its Model Context Protocol (MCP) capabilities in July 2026, extending AI-driven campaign management to cover SMS campaigns, Email A/B test campaigns, and Booster campaigns, while also adding full automation management directly through natural language prompts. The platform simultaneously added 14 new integrations to its App Market, pulling in subscription billing tools, customer support platforms, and referral programs to trigger lifecycle workflows.
The update, detailed in the Omnisend Help Center's July 2026 release notes, represents one of the platform's largest single-month drops since it first launched MCP in May 2026.
What the MCP Expansion Actually Covers
Omnisend's MCP integration lets merchants analyze marketing performance, uncover new revenue opportunities, and create campaigns using plain-language prompts from within AI tools like ChatGPT, without switching tabs or learning a new interface.
Until now, that functionality was largely limited to standard email campaigns and reporting. The July update changes the scope considerably.
Full automation management is now available via MCP, giving users the ability to create, edit, enable, and disable automations, edit UTM parameters, and work with all automation block types available in the Omnisend UI, including webhooks. That means growth teams can build and modify entire lifecycle workflows from a single conversational thread, rather than navigating between the Omnisend dashboard and an AI assistant.
Bernard Meyer, AI Operations Manager at Omnisend, explained the core philosophy when MCP launched in May: "People do not want another place to work. They are already using ChatGPT to think through problems, plan campaigns, and make decisions. We wanted Omnisend to be useful in that exact moment and environment. Instead of asking merchants to come to us, MCP lets Omnisend meet them where the work is already happening."
The addition of A/B test campaign management via MCP is especially useful for ROI-focused teams. According to Email Monday, A/B testing can increase email marketing ROI by 83%, with businesses that regularly A/B test reporting an average ROI of 4200%, compared to 2300% for those that never test. Being able to set up and manage those tests through a natural language prompt removes a meaningful amount of friction from the optimization cycle.
14 New Integrations: A Focus on Subscriptions and Support
The App Market additions this month are weighted toward subscription management and customer lifecycle data, two areas where triggered automation has historically been difficult to wire up without custom development.
Key integrations added this month include:
- Paywhirl: Syncs subscription lifecycle events and triggers email or SMS workflows when subscriptions are created, updated, or canceled.
- Chargebee: Brings subscription, payment, and billing activity from Chargebee into Omnisend to power retention and lifecycle workflows.
- Zendesk: Syncs Zendesk users and ticket activity into Omnisend to trigger support-based workflows and personalize follow-ups.
- Fourthwall: Triggers email and SMS workflows from Fourthwall membership purchases, plan changes, and orders.
- Unbounce: Automatically syncs leads from Unbounce landing pages, pop-ups, and sticky bars into Omnisend as contacts.
- Viral Loops: Syncs referral program events and participant data to power referral-based automations and segmentation.
- Friendbuy: Syncs referral rewards, loyalty events, and profile data to trigger targeted automations at every stage of the referral and loyalty journey.
Additional integrations include Tickvio, which adds real-time countdown timers to campaigns and automation emails via an HTML block, useful for flash sales, promotions, and event deadlines.
The Zendesk integration deserves attention from teams that manage post-purchase support at scale. Connecting support ticket activity directly to an email automation platform means a resolved complaint, an upgraded plan, or a lapsed ticket can all become automated triggers, rather than requiring manual list exports.
Why This Matters for Ecommerce Marketing Teams
The broader context here is significant. According to Omnisend's own data, automated emails generate $2.87 per send compared to $0.18 for manual campaigns, a 16x difference, and automated emails drove 37% of all email-generated sales in 2024 despite making up only 2% of total email volume.
The gap between what automation can deliver and what most teams actually have set up comes down to time and complexity. Setting up a Chargebee-triggered retention workflow or a Zendesk-driven re-engagement sequence previously required developer resources or third-party middleware. Native integrations through Omnisend's App Market reduce that barrier.
Traditional marketing automation platforms generally rely on predefined workflows, manual reporting analysis, and fixed segmentation rules. AI-powered orchestration systems aim to reduce that operational friction by turning analytics and execution into real-time conversational tasks.
The combination of expanded MCP coverage and 14 new data sources means Omnisend users can now prompt their AI assistant to build a Chargebee churned-subscriber re-engagement flow, or a Zendesk support-resolved upsell sequence, from the same chat window where they review weekly performance data.
For teams considering the investment, companies implementing AI-powered marketing automation see 14.5% increases in sales productivity and 12.2% reductions in marketing costs, and 55% of companies using AI-driven automation report higher conversion rates due to improved personalization.
Other Updates in the July Release
Omnisend also improved email personalization in the Email Builder: typing @ directly inside a text block now instantly opens the personalization menu, with a new search bar to find any variable quickly and a refreshed picker that is more consistent and easier to browse.
A Shared Image Library update means images uploaded to the Omnisend Image Library can now be reused when creating or editing forms, eliminating the need to upload the same asset twice across campaigns and forms.
For teams already on Omnisend, the July update is available now. Full details on each new integration and the expanded MCP capabilities are documented in the Omnisend Help Center.
